The Mystery Of The Egyptian Pyramids Solved İn Sivas? Orion Connection Of Divriči Great Mosque!
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Divriši Grand Mosque and Darüşifa are celebrated not only for their history, architectural features, artistic value and cultural significance, but also for their attractive geographical arrangement. Built by Mengücekids of Sivas, this 8th century marvel is often called “El Hamra of Anatolia” and attracts attention with its unique ornaments and newly discovered astronomical connections.
Dr. Ahmettaşkıran of Sivas Cumhuriyet University revealed that the geographical location of the mosque is intricately related to astronomy. He noted that throughout history, attraction to celestial bodies has influenced many important structures around the world, including the Egyptian Pyramids, Angkor Wat, Stonehenge and Chichen Itza. Similarly, the Divriši Great Mosque and Darüşifa seem to coincide with the constellation Orion.
Dr. Taşkıran’s extensive research suggests that the graves of Nureddin Salih, Emir Kamereddin and Sitte Melik in Divrişi were strategically placed to reflect the constellation Orion. He believes that this adjustment helped to determine the geographical location of the mosque and the direction of the Qibla, even in times without a compass. This geometric relationship between the tomb of the mosque and the other tombs of the district center seems too accurate to be accidental.
Tashkran stressed that the deep knowledge of the Turks’ astronomy and nomadic life required a sharp understanding of geographical directions. He noted that in the steppe culture of Central Asia, the polar star is known as the “iron mountain” among the Turks, symbolizing the “tree of life”, an astronomical connection between the earth and the sky. This interest in ancient astronomy may reflect the astronomical consciousness deeply rooted in Turkish culture before and after Islam regarding the construction of the Diblich Grand Mosque.
Aligning Orion with the Divriči Great Mosque and the surrounding tombs raises an interesting question. Can this ancient structure, designed with such accurate astronomical knowledge, reveal more about the advanced scientific understanding of time? The remarkable connection discovered by Dr. Taşkıran certainly invites further exploration into the secrets of this historical masterpiece.
